Variant for The Mad King based on the W. C. Fairchild cover illustration for the March 21, 1915, edition of
ALL-STORY WEEKLY. A friend suggested this one. Fairchild's work is unknown to me, but I like the way
the texture and mood of this illustration seems to match the novel itself. I couldn't resist putting a movie
still from one of the many movie adaptations of The Prisoner of Zenda on the back of the jacket. I don't
think ERB would have minded.
